Happy birthday to us! As we celebrate another year of Setyl, our Founder and CEO Christopher Batts takes this moment to reflect on the past 12 months and to share his vision for the upcoming year.

From continued investment in our market-leading hardware asset management (HAM) functionality to rapid advances in our software asset management (SAM) capabilities, which already offer our customers significant ROI, our focus remains the same: building an easy-to-use platform that not only provides visibility, but helps IT teams take action.

By combining deep integrations, automations, and insights gathered from thousands of conversations with IT professionals, our goal is for Setyl to automatically surface and prioritize opportunities for improvement, to help you make faster and more confident decisions.

Looking back: What we achieved over the past year

“Looking back at the ambitious goals we set for Setyl this time last year, I'm proud to say we've achieved what we set out to do.

“The biggest change to the platform over the past year isn't any single feature. It's how it feels today.

“Setyl is smoother, more complete, and more valuable than it has ever been. It has evolved far beyond a tool for storing and tracking data, providing a higher level of insight and guidance to IT teams. Today, it helps customers make better decisions, surface opportunities, and benefit from the collective knowledge we've built from speaking to thousands of IT professionals worldwide.

“In many cases, organizations are identifying software savings that far exceed the cost of the platform itself shortly after getting started, delivering significant ROI almost immediately.“

“On the IT asset and hardware management side, I’m incredibly pleased with how mature the platform has become.

“Hardware asset management has always been at the heart of Setyl, and we're proud of how established and capable that part of the platform is today. Over the last year, we've continued to invest in it, introducing more integrations, lifecycle automations such as the warranty finder and useful-life data, employee onboarding kits, stock management, and further enhancements for our MSP partners.

“At the same time, our software asset management capabilities have taken huge strides forward, with new functionality, more automations, and faster access to insights.

“We've added more integrations, expanded our license intelligence connections, and launched new rightsizing and cost-savings functionality. The result is a platform that not only gives customers better visibility into their software estate, but also helps them identify practical actions to reduce spend and improve efficiency.

“One thing that's been particularly exciting is seeing how quickly customers are already finding value. In many cases, organizations are identifying software savings that far exceed the cost of the platform itself shortly after getting started, delivering significant ROI almost immediately. We're still in the early stages of what's possible here, and we're excited to expand these capabilities even further.

“As we've added all this functionality, we've stayed committed to one of our core principles: keeping the platform easy to use, even for non-technical users.

“We've continued to focus heavily on usability and intuitive design so that Setyl remains accessible not just to IT teams, but also to finance, operations, and other stakeholders across the business. We believe even the most technical systems should be easy to understand, regardless of technical expertise.

“It's also been great to see these efforts recognized externally. This year we received dozens of G2 badges, including multiple High Performer awards, and became an Omnissa Technology Partner and Cisco Partner. We also continued to support the wider IT community through our sponsorship of the Mac Admins Foundation.

Looking ahead: What’s next for Setyl?

“While our hardware asset management system is already one of the strongest on the market, we'll continue investing in this part of the platform to ensure it stays best-in-class. In the coming months, you can expect more integrations, additional automations, and new ways to interact with your data, such as an MCP connector that will make it faster to get answers in the way that works best for you.

“But our biggest focus over the next year is bringing our software asset management functionality to the same level — and we’re already well on our way.

“We'll continue expanding our integrations and data coverage so that more of your software estate can be connected automatically. The aim is to help you build the most complete picture of your software landscape, usage, and spend, with as little manual effort as possible. In turn, this will help you get a quicker and higher return on investment.

“We're building toward a future where Setyl doesn't just show you information; it actively helps you decide what to do next.“

“The other area we're particularly excited about is AI-generated, community-trained recommendations. We're building toward a future where Setyl doesn't just show you information; it actively helps you decide what to do next.

“Drawing on best practices gathered from constant conversations with IT teams around the world, Setyl will surface and prioritize opportunities for improvement across your environment. Whether that's improving asset management processes, optimizing software licenses, strengthening onboarding and offboarding workflows, preparing for renewals, or improving compliance, the platform will not only keep you informed, but help you continuously improve your environment and stay aligned with industry best practices.

“Some of these capabilities will begin rolling out over the next few months, and by this time next year we believe they'll fundamentally change how customers interact with the platform.”

And of course, thank you

“Every feature, integration, and improvement we've released this year has been influenced by conversations with our customers and partners, who generously share their insights, best practices, and challenges.

“We're grateful to be part of your IT journey, and we're excited to keep building a platform that makes your job easier, helps your team achieve more, and delivers even greater value in the years ahead."
